INjected Smoke and PYRocumulonimbus Experiment (INSPYRE)

The CRS and EXRAD radars will fly aboard the NASA ER-2 during the 2026 and 2027 deployments of the INSPYRE field campaign.  While both radars will provide measurements of the pyroconvection, EXRAD is better able to capture the strong vertical motions of the convection while the higher sensitivity of CRS is better able to observe the cloud structures themselves.  Additionally, EXRAD's scanning beam will provide context to the nadir radar curtains.

North American Upstream Feature-Resolving and Tropopause Uncertainty Recon. Experiment (NURTURE)

 The MBARS radar will be flying aboard the NASA B777 for the 2027 deployment of the NUTURE field campaign where MBARS will provide over-ocean surface pressure observations.
